Refrain Choral Speaking :
Refrain speaking consists of different groups, narrating an event or a story while the whole class says the refrain with appropriate emotions, gestures and movements. Fast paced and humorous benefit from this kind or recitation. The following rhyme is an evocative example.
A FARMER WENT TROTTING
GROUP 1 : A farmer went trotting upon his grey mare,
ALL : Bumpety, bumpety, bump!
GROUP 1 : With his daughter behind him so rosy and fair,
ALL : Lumpety, lumpety, lump!
GROUP 2 : A raven cried “Croak"
And they all tumbled down,
ALL : Bumpety, bumpety bump!
GROUP 2 : The mare broke her knees,
And the farmer his crown,
ALL : Lumpety lumpety, lump!
GROUP 3 : The mischievous raven flew laughing away,
