Pray : (verb)

We prayed for the dying man.
They prayed to God for an end to their sufferings.

Prey : (noun)

1 ) Animal, bird, etc…hunted and killed by another for food
The lion stalked its prey through the long grass.

2 ) Person who is exploited or harmed by another
Victim
She was easy prey for dishonest salesman.

1 ) Trouble someone greatly
Fear of punishment preyed on his mind.
(
2 ) Hunt or catch as prey
Hawks were preying on small birds.
(
3 ) Make someone one’s victim
Exploit or attack
A trickster has been preying on rich windows for a long time.
