Canvas : (adjective)

1 ) Strong coarse cloth used for making tents, sails, etc…
This is a canvas bag.

2 ) A piece of above used for oil painting, etc…
The artist showed me his canvas.
Canvass : (verb)
(
1 ) Go round an area asking people for political support
Our party candidate will canvass the constituency next month.
He is canvassing for the Communist Candidate.
