What is the difference between Banish and Vanish? :


Banish :

( 1 ) Send someone away especially out of the country as a punishment

He was banished from his country for his life.


( 2 ) Drive thoughts out of the mind

He banished all thoughts of restful holiday from his mind.



Vanish :

( 1 ) Disappear completely and suddenly

The thief vanished into the crowd.


( 2 ) Fade away or cease to exist

My hopes of success have vanished.
