What is the difference between Afflict and Inflict? :
Afflict :
( 1 ) Cause trouble, pain, distress to somebody / something
She is afflicted with arthritis.
Severe droughts have afflicted many rural areas.
Inflict :
( 1 ) Cause a blow – penalty to be suffered by someone
We inflicted crushing defeat on the enemy.
I inflicted a sever wound on the thief.
( 2 ) Force someone to accept one’s unwelcome presence
He apologised for inflicting his company on us.
My uncle is inflicting himself on visiting us again this weekend.
