Adapt :

( 3 ) Become adjusted to new conditions

Adept : (adjective)
( 1 ) Expert or skilled in something
You are adept in telling lies.
Adept : (noun)
( 1 ) Person who is skilled in something
He is an adept in carpentry.
Adopt :
( 1 ) Take someone into one’s family especially as one’s child or heir
As he has no child of his own, he decided to adopt an orphane.
( 2 ) Choose somebody as a candidate or representative
He has been adopted as congress candidate from New Delhi.
( 3 ) Take over and have or use something as one’s own
They adopted our production methods.
