Verb (V) : Auxiliary Verb + Main Verb
He is a lawyer.(BE form Verb)
Raju wrote a letter. (Main Verb)
The child is crying. (Auxiliary Verb + Main Verb)
Subject (S) :
Suganya danced well.(Suganya – Subject)
The child broke the glass. (The child- Subject)
Object (O) :
The cat killed a mouse. (A Mouse – Object)
I ate mango. (Mango – Object)
They treated the patient very well. (Patient – Object)
Types of Object : Direct Object and Indirect Object
The cow gives us milk.
The cow gives – what? Milk. To whom? Us
Milk – Direct Object
Us – Indirect Object
Complement (C) :
The words required to complete the meaning of a sentence are called Complement of the sentence.
Types of Complement :
Subject complement : The Complement which express the quality or identity or condition of the subject is called Subject complement.
Examples :
1. He is a doctor. (Subject Complement)
2. Mala is intelligent. (Subject Complement)
3. He looks sad. (subject complement)
4. I became a teacher. (Subject Complement)
Object Complement : The complement which expresses the quality or identify or condition of an object is called Object complement.
Examples :
They made her angry. (Object Complement)
She called him a liar. (Object Complement)
Adverbial :
The use of adverbial is optional whereas complement is essential.
