Selecting The Treasurer
Selecting The Treasurer :
Once, the old treasurer of a king died. Now the king wanted an honest treasurer to take care of the royal treasury. The king announced that anyone who wanted to have a job in the royal palace must present himself in the palace next day.
The next morning, many people gathered in the royal courtyard. They were made to go through a passage from the courtyard to reach the king's court. In the passage, there were many pots full of gold coins and gems. When everyone had reached the court, the king ordered, "All of you must dance till I ask you to stop."
So, all of them started dancing on the beats of the drums.
But as soon as they began dancing, gems and gold coins fell from their pockets which everyone had picked from the pots in the dark passage. Only a young man's dance did not bear any such things. The king said, "Guards, give ten whiplashes to all of these dishonest people. Only this man is fit to be my treasurer for he is honest."
