Living : noun : cost of living = money which a person has to pay for rent, food, heating, etc.
Cost-of-Living Index = way of measuring the cost of living which is shown as a percentage increase on the figure for the previous year
He does not earn a living wage = he does not earn enough to pay for essentials (food, heat, rent)
Standard of Living = quality of personal home life (amount of food, cloths bought, size of the family car, etc.)
Living Standards = quality of personal home life (amount of food, cloths bought, size of the family car, etc.)
Living standards fell as unemployment rose.
NOTE : no plural
