Dear Sir,
As the President of Mumbai’s Women’s Equality Forum, I wish to voice the objection of our members against your discriminatory selection policy.
Since your inception in 2003 as Maldives Premier Airlines, you have recruited only ten percent of women in the category of air-hostesses. Ninety percent of your ground office staff are men. Does this not reflect your thinking that women are capable of only working as air-hostesses and that the other jobs are best left to men?
Your policy goes against all norms of equality being followed by the other national airlines and international recruitment policy. It has been proved that trained female personnel are equal or at least not less mentally alert and equipped to handle jobs at airports and the office than the male staff.
We, therefore, request you to change your recruitment policy and help in reversing traditional discrimination against women in jobs.
Your move in that direction will be appreciated and duly acknowledged by our forum.
With thanks.
Yours sincerely,
