Direct Speech :
In direct speech we reproduce the actual words of the speaker. The words of the speaker are put in inverted commas.
Examples :
Ashok said to Santhosh, “My father is going to Mumbai tomorrow.”
Raveendran told his mother, “I will come to Delhi next week.”
Jack said to his father, “Would you pick up the courier parcel on behalf of me?”
Indirect Speech :
In indirect speech, we do not reproduce the actual words of the speaker. We report the speech after making some changes.
Examples :
Ashok said to Santhosh that his father was going to Mumbai the next day.
Raveendran told his mother that he would come to Delhi next week.
Jack asked his father whether he would you pick up the courier parcel on behalf of Jack.
