Comparing Stored Energy

Fill a soft drink can with 100ml of water and place it on a wire rack. Take a ceramic tile and cover it with aluminium foil. Now using a kitchen tongs, pick up a peanut and bring it in a flame till the peanut starts burning. Put this burning peanut on the aluminium tile and slide it under the wire rack and allow it to burn till the end. Once the peanut is completely burnt, using a thermometer, take the reading of the temperature of the water. Now repeat this experiment using a wooden piece of the same size as that of the peanut. The thing that gives the higher temperature to the water contains more stored energy.

Making Ice Candies

Take a few ice cream moulds and pour some fruit juice into them. Put them in the freezer. After some time open the freezer.

They would be partly frozen by now. Take them out and insert candy sticks into them and put them back.

Take them out when they are frozen. Dip the moulds into warm water and then pull out the ice candy.
