A Visit to The Radio Station
A Visit to The Radio Station :
We visit many places in life. Still a visit to the radio station is always memorable. It is an important place which we cannot visit whenever we like. There is a definite procedure for visiting the place.
I visited the all Indian radio station - Chennai last week. My friend brought two visitor’s passes - one for visiting the radio station and the other for admission to one of his programs. This program was broadcast in the presence of invited audience.
I accompanied my friend at nine in the morning. We reached the radio station at half past ten. It is a big and beautiful building neat and attractive. It had a large reception hall. One can hardly keep account of the rooms. There are many signboards and a name plates displaying the names of the sections and their officers.
For the first time I saw the announcer’s room. It is soundproof. No sound of any kind can enter its doors. I also saw the recording room where a program was being recorded. I also visited the drama section. The rehearsal of a play was going on there. It was a very interesting experience to see actors working hard to catch and convey the spirit of the paly.
Next we went to other section which keeps everything going over the air without a fault. It was the technical sections. Engineers were busy here looking after numbers machines. They made the different channels work. The transmitters work faultlessly because of these people.
After having a round of these sections, we come to the place where we were to watch the program. It was a spacious room with small platform. The artists were occupying the platform where the rest of the room was occupied by the audience. Soon we heared the voice of the announcer who announced that the program was going to start. Immediately the programmer started. It was a humors skit paced with fun and laughter. The show lasted for fifteen minutes. IT was a highly enjoyable program.
At the end we came out. I had now seen the radio station and watched a live program also. I therefore came home satisfied and the memory of that day is still fresh in my mind.
